You will fall in love with the river.
The river is ancient perpetual motion.
Water forever pushing forward giving life and taking it away, great and terrible.
Staring deeply into the currents you become Zen.
BrambleRidge, an eight acre Fen the headwaters of the Grand River, quiet and embryonic.
Little more than a stream now runs gin-clear.
Finding its legs it stumbles over a gravel bed coming to life and born new, a river.
Welling up, cold artesian springs seventy five feet down.
A two hundred and sixty five mile long force of nature growing in the black womb of Grand lake.
Massive aquifers realized from glaciers in eons past. Rising and spilling into fertile and pristine floodplains.
This is where the Grand begins.
Sitting on the reedy banks of the new river
you think about the people who sat here before you.
What they saw then and what we see now.
The ability to preserve it becomes a responsibility to those who can.
Our first guests and every guest thereafter reinforce the magic of Washtanong.
The campers and paddlers encourage us to keep this space beautiful and wild.
If you would like to learn more about us, or come see us for a visit. let us know!
